The 14-member board is comprised of seven appointed police agency representatives and seven community-at-large members.
GVPVS provides emotional support and services to victims of crime or trauma, their family members and friends, and witnesses of crime. We are contracted by the Ministry of Justice to provide services that are mandated under the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA).

The Justice Education Society is launching a major province-wide fundraising campaign to “Sponsor kids to learn about the law.”
Government funding to the Society’s Justice System Education program is now gone. The program used to introduce students to the courts every year. Activities include court orientations, courtwatching educational sessions with Judges and other justice system personnel and performing mock trials.
The Society is hoping to raise $100,000 to continue services to 20,000 youth to the courts each year by seeking sponsorship from law firms, individual lawyers, Judges, businesses and the general public.
We are seeking individuals who are interested in helping with this campaign. Contact Rick Craig at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.
Lawyers Doing Other Things?
If you know of a lawyer in Victoria that does interesting things with his or her time outside of work, or if YOU are a lawyer that has a life outside of law, we'd like to hear about it! Do you volunteer for a charitable organization and want to share information about it? Do you play in a band? We are going to be featuring a number of lawyers in upcoming editions the Praecipe, and would love to hear from you.

Pro Bono Students Canada
University of Victoria Chapter is seeking to partner with lawyers in the Victoria community working pro bono files. Each year PBSC-UVic pairs law students with community organizations and not-for-profits to pursue public interest legal projects. These projects allow law students to broaden their legal education while also providing critical legal services to their community. Our student volunteers are highly motivated and prepared to offer assistance with legal research and writing. If you are a lawyer who could use additional help with your pro bono files, please consider partnering with our organization.
